    Name of your website?

    Digital TV Advice

    Your name?

    Richard Buckton

    Your Location (city, etc)

    London

Please give us a short summary of your website?

The site is about different ways to get digital TV in the UK, from Freeview and Freesat to double and triple packages from the 3 main suppliers Sky, Virgin Media and BT. There is also lots of localised information on the digital switchover.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

There was a lot of confusion about the switch to digital TV and I wanted to help people find the answers easily.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

The first was www.buyonlinestorage.co.uk all about the different ways you can save and back up data online.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

It seemed to suit the site and the url was available.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

It has some very specific pages on switchover in different areas of the UK so has a lot of long tail queries and traffic.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

I'd like to be able to make enough money running the site to start spending more time on music making.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Quite well - it's not a huge success yet but then I know I haven't worked enough on it.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

A good redesign plus some dynamic php and mySQL database stuff for product feeds of TVs etc

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

I'd have to give up work, then I could.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

    None really.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Spending enough time on the site with a day job and 2 children. That, and learning how to change the theme CSS in Wordpress to fit in with the site.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Just good content to get quality links.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It's about right but harder work than you imagine.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

It's 2 and a half years and I'll carry on until it's really successful.

What do you think of people who make a full time living on the web?

It's very admirable - gives you great freedom but I now appreciate how hard they work.

    What is your website address?
