We also offer an image & gender guarantee, so if your little one decides to hide his or her precious little face or will not let us see gender (if so desired) we let you come back to try again free of charge.
What inspired you to start First Expressions?
Well when my husband and I were expecting we had a 3D ultrasound done. We had to travel over 2 hours to get it done. Because seeing our little girl in this way was such an amazing experience we thought there needed to be a location closer, so expecting parents in Central Ohio could also experience the miracle of 4D ultrasound.

How did you decide on the name First Expressions?
It took me several agonizing months to come up with a name. When we started in this industry it was still a very new thing, however many good names had already been taken. I began to think back to the 3D ultrasound with my daughter and remembered how cool it was to see her first facial expressions while she was still in the womb. I realized that was the perfect name, First Expressions.
What makes First Expressions different from other imaging centers?
At First Expressions we are proud to have offered expecting parents the ability to experience the Miracle of 4D ultrasound for over 3 years! New facilities pop up all the time, but First Expressions has the experience and knows what expecting parents want from their 4D ultrasound provider! SERVICE & QUALITY at a REASONABLE PRICE! Expecting moms get quality medical care from their Obstetrician, so when they come to us they are expecting to get exceptional quality 3D/4D images at a reasonable price. We deliver that for them.
What is your eventual goal for First Expressions?
We would love to open more locations in Ohio and eventually across the country.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
We are doing extremely well, however I hear people all the time say I wish I would have known about you when I was pregnant. So, we have room for improvement in educating expecting parents that this technology is availabel.
If you had an unlimited budget for development, what would you do?
I would love to start more First Expressions in Ohio and across the country. People ask me all the time if I would want to add another machine at my current facility. I tell them no. I only want to see one customer at a time. I don't want people to feel like a number. I want them to come in, relax, and have a terrific experience watching their little one.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Informing expecting parents that such an amazing experience is available at an affordable price. There is a myth out there among expecting moms that this service costs $500 or more. We offer 4D ultrasound packages starting at $99!
What method has been most successful for promoting your business?
Well, first and foremost word of mouth. We try our best to make every customer's experience absolutely amazing. We believe we have succeeded in that because our most effective advertising method is our satisfied customers that referr their friends to us all the time. Our second best method would be internet advertising.
Does the 3D/4D ultrasound received at First Expressions take the place of an Ultrasound provided at a doctor’s office?
ABSOLUTELY NOT! Women seeking an elective prenatal Ultrasound with First Expressions must already be receiving treatment with a healthcare provider for prenatal care and have already undergone a medical, diagnostic Ultrasound ordered by their provider to confirm their due date, screen for fetal anomalies, and to look for any other pregnancy related issues. The issues that we are evaluating in the elective prenatal Ultrasound session include a limited diagnostic scan to confirm heartbeat, the number of babies in the pregnancy, the position of the baby, and the placental location. Please note, at no time is this exam to be used in place of a complete diagnostic Ultrasound.
Is this type of ultrasound safe? Are there any risks to the mother or baby?
Extensive studies over 30 years have found that Ultrasound has not been shown to cause any harm to mother or baby. Routine scanning of all pregnancies is now normal throughout the United States . In 3D/4D scanning exactly the same type and intensity of Ultrasound is used as with conventional 2D scanning. 3D and 4D Ultrasound both utilize sound waves to look inside the body. The technology is similar to radar. A probe placed on the body emits sound waves into the body, listens for the return echo and generates an image. 4D Ultrasound will be similar to a conventional scan in terms of exposure.
How far along should an expectant mom be before having a 4D Ultrasound?
If you plan on having only one 4D Ultrasound, we would recommend having it performed between the 26th and 34th week of the pregnancy. However, we do them as early as 16 weeks for gender determination purposes. Usually excellent images of your baby can be obtained anytime after about 22 weeks of pregnancy. Many mothers obtain more than one 4D Ultrasound and have images to enjoy from their second and third trimesters.
Can expecting parents bring family and friends with them to their 4D ultrasound?
Yes. In fact, we encourage our clients to invite family and friends to attend the elective 4D Ultrasound session. This is a joyous and wonderful experience, one that can be shared with their family and loved ones. We can comfortably accommodate 12 people, however we can accommodate up to 16-18 guests. Our seating is specifically arranged so that everyone in the party will have an excellent view on any of our 3 viewing screens as well as our large projected screen.
We also offer a new service called UltraStream LIVE. UltraStream LIVE is an exciting new technology that enables expecting parents to share their 4D ultrasound session with friends and family all over the world! If they their 3D/4D ultrasound performed at First Expressions, then they will be able to invite people to watch their ultrasound LIVE from any computer in the world with a high-speed internet connection. First Expressions utilizes high tech hardware and software integrated with our ultrasound machine to make this new technology available. Now friends and family all over the world can see & hear what the expecting parents see & hear at the same time! From his first smile to her sleepy yawn, mom, dad, family and friends will be able to experience the 4D ultrasound together. Streaming the 4D ultrasound does not affect the quality of the 4D ultrasound experience. It simply gives expecting parents the ability to share a very special time with those people who can’t be with them for this amazing experience. The friends and family members invited to share this experience will only pay a small fee per connection for this service.
